This month we’re shining the spotlight on one of our lovely stockists: Violet’s, a florist, coffee shop and wine bar rolled into one, based in St. Lawrence, Ramsgate. We caught up with owner Mel Osborn to hear more about her welcoming space.
Q: Tell us a little about your shop — what do you specialise in?
Mel: Violet’s is a florist, coffee shop and wine bar. A bit of everything I love, all in one place.
Q: What inspired you to start Violet’s?
Mel: It’s always been a dream of mine to run a coffee shop, and I’m a trained florist — so combining the two just made perfect sense.
Q: How would you describe the vibe inside?
Mel: Relaxed, comfy, a little bit rustic. Think Grandma’s living room with plenty of colour (violet, of course!).
Q: What’s something customers always say when they walk in?
Mel: “Wow, what a lovely space!” The colour always gets comments too.
Q: Which indie brands or suppliers are you loving right now?
Mel: We work with some brilliant independents. Cake Stories supply our cakes, Provisions provide our coffee, and Kicking Goat cider is a firm bestseller. Supporting local whenever we can is really important to us.
Q: What’s the best part of running an indie shop?
Mel: Being part of the community and getting to know so many lovely customers and suppliers.
Q: Any favourite neighbouring businesses you’d recommend?
Mel: Honestly, all of them! We’ve got a great little community here and we all support each other.
